Mosaic Partners with Mirukuru to Bring 360° Mobile Mapping Camera Systems to Japan

Japan’s first mobile mapping company now proudly offers Mosaic 360° camera systems to its clients.

Prague, Czech Republic, and Tokyo, Japan — 22 October 2026

Mosaic has partnered with Mirukuru, a Tokyo-based aerial surveying and geospatial technology company, to bring Mosaic’s 360° mobile mapping camera systems, including the Mosaic 51 and Mosaic X, to the Japanese market.

Mirukuru has continually served the Japanese market since 2003, with services that include image analysis, topographic model analysis, GIS development, environmental and forest surveys, and three-dimensional model creation and simulation.

They were the very first company to introduce MMS solutions in Japan and remain a strong leader in MMS integrations. Mirukuru’s team sells a range of surveying hardware and software for everything from aerial photogrammetry cameras and GPS/IMU systems to LiDAR data processing tools and 3D mobile object measurement systems.

The company has built its reputation on going beyond hardware sales, advising customers on effective use of survey deliverables and on technical methods for lowering the cost of raw data creation.

For Mirukuru, the partnership with Mosaic closes a gap between its airborne and static laser-scanning offerings and the street-level, vehicle-based capture that a growing share of its clients now need. This extends their consulting model to a new category of high-resolution 360° data.

“It was clear to us that Mosaic cameras are able to deliver the best data on the market, while staying competitively priced. We believe that we can offer great value to our customers by introducing them to Mosaic solutions and thus are eager to start our partnership.”

-Shinji Inaba, CTO at Mirukuru

Mosaic’s open architecture allows GNSS, INS, and LiDAR sensors to be integrated into a single capture workflow. This setup fits naturally with how Mirukuru’s engineers already build project pipelines around GPS/IMU and laser-processing systems.

The image resolution and consistency Mosaic cameras deliver at normal driving speeds match the standard Mirukuru’s infrastructure inspection, asset management, and GIS extraction work requires.

“We already knew that Mirukuru was a well-established player in Japan, but we were even more impressed at how passionate their team is to dive in and really understand our customers and what they are looking for. Mirukuru is helping shape the Japanese geospatial market in real-time, and our team visiting and seeing them in action at CSPI in Tokyo was a great way to start off this partnership.”

Early reception of Mosaic 360° camera systems in Japan

If you attended CSPI (International Construction & Survey Productivity Improvement Expo) in Tokyo earlier this year, you may have already seen Mosaic mobile mapping systems on Mirukuru’s booth.

This is Japan’s most important trade show for the surveying and construction industries. Mirukuru attends every year and, this summer, decided to introduce Mosaic solutions to their client base. When asked about how the expo went, Lisa Andrianarifidy, Marketing & Communication Associate at Mirukuru, has this to say:

“We received much positive feedback as well as demand for product demonstrations, which speaks to the demand for new MMS solutions in Japan.”

Recently Product Manger Ivan Hepp visited the the team at Mirukuru’s in Tokyo. They collected data in the surrounding neighborhoods with the Mosaic Meridian 2. Meridian 2 is our latest product to debut, and our most portable 360° panoramic imaging and LiDAR mobile mapping system.

“It was great to spend some time with our partner in Japan and show them Meridian 2 in action. We collected data and I demonstrated how easy the system is to mount and remove in just a few minutes, and walk through the workflow for combining imagery and point cloud data.

The rain may have stopped us a little earlier than planned, but it was still a really enjoyable visit: great conversations, a successful demo, and an excellent lunch to top it all off.”

Japan looks to new technologies to fix gaps in its aging workforce

Japan’s demographic data gives this partnership between Mosaic and Mirukuru particular relevance. As Japan faces aging infrastructure, as well as an aging workforce, creative new technologies are filling in the gaps left by population decline.

This past decade, the Japanese mobile mapping market has been booming, and demand remains high. The industry’s main accounts are large road and highway corporations, which deploy a lot of resources in safety and maintenance.

More than 40% of the country’s bridges are now over 50 years old, and Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has pushed municipalities toward digital inspections and data collection under its i-Construction initiative.

This is also alongside broader efforts such as Project PLATEAU, the government’s open 3D city-model program for Japanese cities.

At the same time, a shrinking surveying and construction workforce is increasing demand for tools that let smaller teams capture more usable data per project.

Street-level mobile mapping addresses needs directly, giving municipalities and infrastructure operators a way to document assets without incurring the cost of a full airborne or terrestrial LiDAR survey every time.
