Our CEO presented at the 2nd annual 3Dise conference, held right in our hometown of Prague.

This week, Mosaic attended the 2nd annual 3Dise conference in Prague alongside dozens of other thought leaders and industry professionals. The presentation topics featured technology-driven topics like digital twins, Gaussian splatting, and photogrammetry, with other topics focusing on the human side of the industry, such as personal branding and trying to attract new talent.

For the last several months,  Mosaic Co-Founder and CEO, Jeffrey Martin,  has been researching the process of building world models and recording his thoughts in a series of articles on LinkedIn. This research process cumulated in this week’s presentation at 3Dise.

On Wednesday morning, he presented “The World at Eye Level: Mapping at Human Scale to Solve AGI,” during which he walked the audience through why solving embodied AI requires a fundamentally different kind of training data than what powers today’s LLMs.

Drawing on predictive processing theory, classic neuroscience experiments, and 20+ years of building human-scale capture systems, Jeffrey argued that calibrated, multimodal, body-coupled sensor data is the bottleneck — and introduced Mosaic’s new Shouldercam as a step toward closing that gap.

When we asked Jeffrey how he liked attending 3Dise this year, he had this to say:

“3Dise was a great conference. Two really intense days that brought together many of the world’s leading minds around 3D scanning. This was two full days of getting overloaded (in a good way) with new people, new ideas, and getting a really great picture of where this industry is right now. With so many things changing so quickly, this has been incredibly valuable, and I can’t wait for the next one!

The conference itself was extremely well-run in terms of scheduling, logistics, the variety of speakers and presentations, and the companies presenting their products. The size of the conference was really nice – not too big, not too small – for me, there were a few old friends, and there were lots of really interesting new friends that I made. Thanks to Michal Gula and Tomas Barnas for putting this on.

Going a bit deeper, it is interesting to see the diffusion of 3DGS (3D Gaussian splatting) into the real world, for end-users, content creators, product designers, and the surveying/heritage/film/AI industries.

The 3D Gaussian is a fundamentally new kind of representation for visual 3D data, introduced only a few years ago, and it is exciting watching its adoption play out at a very fast pace. It’s got legs now, and there is a whole set of tooling, software, hardware, and services that will grow and evolve around it. It’s an exciting time to be here!”
