Did you spot Mosaic at this year’s Public Works Expo in Chicago?
The Public Works Expo (PWX) just wrapped up for 2025. This year’s event took place in one of the United States’ major hubs for urban infrastructure development: Chicago. PWX brought together thousands of public works leaders, GIS managers, DOT officials, and infrastructure solution providers all under one roof.
Our North American Sales Account Executive, Justin Katz, represented Mosaic at PWX. During the conference, he attended workshops, met with prospective clients, and reconnected with familiar faces in the industry. He mentioned there is an increasing demand for oriented street-level imagery that plugs directly into existing GIS workflows, especially Esri’s ArcGIS platform.
Another emerging trend, to no one’s surprise, is the strong focus on AI-driven analyses. These include pavement analysis and condition detection, as well as the use of AI for asset management and data extraction.
For these industry changes, the promise of flexible and non-proprietary data formats is where Mosaic outshines competitors. Regardless of the new software your teams use or future technological shifts, your data remains functional.
When we asked Justin his main takeaways from PWX, he had this to say:
“The conversations with directors, GIS managers, and infrastructure decision-makers made it clear: this isn’t about capturing “pictures.” It’s about capturing operational insight to keep communities moving forward.”
– Justin Katz, North American Sales Account Executive at Mosaic
PWX 2025 confirmed that cities are rapidly moving toward data-driven and image-powered asset management, but the conversations are just getting started in many urban and suburban areas. For the Mosaic team, the excitement centers on new applications of technologies, such as Gaussian splats, colorized point clouds, and automated utility pole inspections.
Many smaller cities feel these technologies are out of budget or too high-end, but Mosaic continues to be a leader in empowering public works departments of any budget to keep up with modern asset management tools. Our case studies feature cities and towns just like yours with similar hurdles.
If you didn’t catch Justin at PWX, maybe you spotted our Mosaic X at the video display for Davey Resource Group and greehill’s booth?
We are already looking forward to PWX 2026, which will be hosted in Houston, Texas. Will we see you there? Don’t be a stranger, let’s connect today!
