The Mosaic Xplor backpack 360° camera with LiDAR stole the show at this year’s event
This month, Mosaic attended R-CON 2025 in Boise, Idaho, hosted by Reality Capture Network. We sent Justin Katz, Sales Account Executive for North America, and Dylan Faraone, Product Solutions Manager, to meet with peers across the geospatial and AEC industries.
RCN Boise was a fantastic opportunity for our team to connect with the diverse community that powers the reality capture industry. It brought together everyone from field operators and programmers to the researchers who turn raw geospatial data into meaningful insights.

“RCN Boise was a powerful reminder that the reality capture industry is driven by a truly collaborative and supportive community, from the field operators to the data researchers and everyone in between.” -Dylan Faraone, Product Solutions Manager

For Justin, the changes in the industry reflect the advances in technology beyond traditional photography and photogrammetry. Experts and their clients are looking for immersive, moldable environments that still measure the space accurately, especially lightweight Gaussian Splats.
“We are shifting from observers to adaptors. It’s clear that everything needs to be captured, and the reality capture space shows no signs of decline.” -Justin Katz, Sales Account Executive for North America
Reality, Captured: Feeding the Machine
Jeffrey Martin, CEO, was supposed to present at R-CON 2025, but after getting injured at a go-karting incident at our teambuilding event, Dylan stepped in.
He presented on Mosaic’s ethos that customers should own their data. When you purchase your mobile mapping system from Mosaic, you own your camera and your data, always.
The audience got to see many types of projects that are possible with our mobile mapping systems: 3D scans, Gaussian Splats, NeRFs, point clouds, textured mesh, and more. With data that has over 20 compatible software programs, the possibilities are nearly endless when you work with Mosaic 360° cameras.

Dylan got to speak from personal experience with his work out in the field. He has collected post-disaster 360° imagery from hurricanes and wildfires with Site Tour 360 using Mosaic cameras. He spoke to their durability out in the field, ability to capture data all day long in extreme environments, and the speed at which he could post-process the data, thanks to its non-proprietary format.
His unique perspective as both our former customer and as our current Product Solutions Manager goes to prove that when you design a great product that your customers love, the work speaks for itself.
